    Zinc chromate

The alternator cover doesn't really look that bad (or does it? ), but I'm in too deep to back out now.

And I've staged all of the proper, and suitably dangerous, chemistry . . .

  6. What he said. Also, if your commute to school is indeed short you'll want to hook the old girl to a battery tender regularly. Good advice on the short "commute." And, oh my . . . the AGM battery thing: Not all "trickle chargers" will dance well with your AGM . . . Odyssey PC545 Battery conditioning
  7. Nobody steels Moto Guzzis in Minnesota. The sno-mobile carrying the requisite tools and hammers slows the get-away too much . . .

  9. +1! I would never leave home without spare plugs and resistor caps on board. The factory guard was not quite enough to protect the resistor in my 2003 slide, although the plug tip bent, it did not break. This led me to add the extra 3mm guards.
  10. How many km/miles on this '02 motor? (And, wow, gelos: +0,5 on the compression ratio from a gasket change? Sounds like either free horsepower or a formula for difficulties?)
  11. +1 on both the lift and finding a better way to park the front wheel. I roll my Sport into a Baxley Trailer SportChock. If I'm wrangling it around much, I'll tie it down with ratchet straps. The factory shop stand doesn't roll well on the diamond plate, so I use a suitably sized polyethylene cutting board under it. Once on the stand, the sump can be jacked to remove the front wheel (or entire front end for that matter).

  13. Seems my JK guards are the same thickness as factory (9mm; 3/8") and only stand off the valve cover an additional 3mm; 0.118".

  15. I admit to doing this my rear drive with RL Heavy over the years. Until the seals couldn't take it anymore.

  17. MartyNZ informs me that the last of the JoeKenney head guards are available from Motociclo in Australia: http://www.motociclo.com.au/products/bikes-related-items/bike-accessories/moto-guzzi/general-big-block/square-fin-guzzi-head-p-0 (Joe made quite a few different designs. Mine are the "STD" ones just slightly larger than stock. Seems Blueboarhound has some really interesting, more elaborate ones on his Daytona . . . )
  18. Gotcha covered on this, buddy. Found a leftover stock headguard from my 2003 crash. Looking froward to seeing what you mash up! Will pm you and get this piece headed your way along with comparative measurements of my (sweet!, but NLA) Joe Kenney guards.

    M4 mufflers

They all sound sensuously great: round, oval carbon, aluminum, titanium, stainless . . . Go with the look you love - they all sound great and tuning for them is no big deal. unless you are *dangerous* . . . and have-to-have some insane sawed-off Quat thing. Then you might need to push your CO +10 . . .
  20. Great, great, marvelous people. Best regards their way!
  21. Perfect (Wisconsin) weather for a brake upgrade! Maybe even fresh fork oil, build a lightweight aircraft, restore a '37 Plymouth, have more kids . . . . . . you know: perfect Wisconsin weather. Pretty sure the guys in Finland are doing the same thing. (without the Plymouth . . .)
  22. I love that (1400) motor! Yet, that pic has some really distorted *photo-shoppish* things going on . . .
  23. Moto Guzzis and *bad* girls . . . Yet . . . I'm not entirely sure which one of those is the *bad* one . . .
