  1. Truly - I've always trusted my marks and thought the yokes looked "okay." But, after looking at the variation in drive speeds on the video, one tooth out would make the bike a tire eater! ( In my case, that could still be the loose nut attached to the throttle cable . . . )
  2. Thanks for the clarification. The only part number I have for 2002 LeMans is 04 06 70 00, so obviously the steel. What is the part number of the Scura/Tenni flywheel?
  3. So, I see that #599 was registered on the Scura Registry in the USA prior to May, 2006, but also cannot find the specific post. There is a gap pf posts on the Scura Registry from Post#1 to Post#2 of five months while the number of registrants grew from 15 to 35. It is possible that those five months were lost in one of the forum updates (?) . Do you know the username of the previous owner? Here is a link to bbolesaz' Introduction post: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=487&p=215592 And a pic of the Scura (anyone know this bike?):
  4. It is the flywheel that is the concern, yes? (Not the actual clutch . . .) From the 1999-2001 parts manual, is this the Rosso Mandello flywheel? GU04067000 [EDIT: this is the steel] ( and the normal steel flywheel: GU01067040 ? ) [EDIT: this one is the alloy]
  5. Yes docc its been built up and re profiled at some point. Not pretty now though. Ciao As in, "Don't try this at home, kids!"
  6. Good point, yet 170 are common and will fit either rim size. Still seems ungood to me to put a 160 on a later 5.5" rim or a 180 on the earlier 4.5" rim.
  7. Maybe if you finished grinding the rest of that sidestand off on the tarmac?
  8. Two of the most beautiful Guzzis ever. And on the The Blue Ridge Parkway.
  9. Fins look nice! Makes you want to to paint, then shine the edges? Hey, but, what's up with those cam lobes? Looks like they were re-contoured and didn't hold up so well?
  10. Just to clarify (if possible ): 1999-2001 (RedFrame/RossoMandello) V11 / 4.5 inch rear rim: delivered with 170/60-17 (*some* riders find a 160 advantageous). 2002-2004 (LongFrame) V11 / 5.5 inch rear rim: delivered with 180/55-17 and *some* riders have liked a 170 better. So, I would not want to run a 160 on a LongFrame (2002-2004) with the 5.5 inch rim.

Haha - more poseur stuff on my part. It's not like I'm reassembling my gearbox or changing my flywheel. Not sure when I can apply the Eastwood DiamondClearcoat® with the temps dropping, but in the meantime: on to the Decent Tune-Up and servicing my regulator grounds . . .

Sheesh -I guess I better get out of the shop every now and then.
  16. I'm, just jealous Scud. MG obviously hit the mark with the Scura, as evidenced by the last of the line "R", AND the lack of them for sale compared to the rest. The guy with the Tenni is jealous of the guy with the Scura? I don't feel so odd about the zinc chromate thing now.
  17. Is there some way to compute the ZDDP content (typically ppm, but has to account for the dilution in your oil)?

Ah . . . so that's what you do with the Factory Stand spindle and an old headguard . . .

In my own fit of Vee-elevenosis Scuratimitis, I'm determined to get the alternator cover in at least one coat of primer today. Stripped with "aircraft" stripper (man, is that stuff potent! My nitrile gloves should have come up the arms further!), cleaned with SuperClean®, sanded with 600grit (and cleaned again). The lower leading edge is awfully peckered up from these 100,000 miles, but I have the best-damn-primer in the whole-wide world! Trying to get the part warmed up for a first coat. (barely over 50ºF outside. FWIW, the stainless fasteners were in good shape showing remnants of copper anti-seize. Threads to the wire wheel and a fresh, liberal coat of grease.
  21. I'm not in the know on this, but the PayPal link on Wildguzzi is for George Westbury in Rock Hill, SC, USA: https://www.paypal.me/Orwig
  22. Good eye, there, JRD! Interesting bike! I can't quite make out the clip-ons - they don't appear to be above the triple like a typical LeMans. And check out those sweet exhaust hangers and nifty front fender. No external regulator on the tank . . . really interesting V11 ! You promised us more pictures, voycie!
  23. Seems the labeling allows SG/SH/SL (or "exceeds SG"), to mean that this is actually SL rated oil (?) [The RedLine 20W-50 I just purchased states "API SN/SM/SL"] I suppose we have H-D to thanks, but almost every chain autoparts store here in the USA has display of motorcycle (and often "racing") oils that typically include several grades of both Mob1 and Lucas, as well as CI-4xx rated diesel oils (which are expected to have higher ZDDP if that's what you're looking for). The OP is still waiting for someone who adds ZDDP . . . . *crickets* ?

    Brand-new Scura

Thanks for the clarification JesterGrin_1 and Chuck. I knew they had to be completely torn down, but was not sure the procedure at that point. So, engine cases, gearbox case(s), rear drive case. But probably not the ancillary parts Scud discovered (reaction rod, driveshaft collars)? I'm wondering if that is a way to see that a 2002 V11 had this service performed?
