  1. I'd say that's a Tonti, but looks like the frame is custom. As would be a girl with three elbows.
  2. As spring is performing its springing here, and the Sport rolled over 98,000 miles today, I'm motivated to revisit the raison d'etre of Spine Raids, and Spine Raiders. The inaugural South'n Spine Raid was all about getting a few V11 together in order to get some 'semblance of understanding of their traits, transitions , and taming. This was 2004, about a year after Jaap launched this forum. It was massively revealing to put the four V11 side by side and pore over them. Along with my 2000 Sport was the 2002 LeMans of TheProfessorHisOwnSelf Andy York (now with something like 120,000+ miles), Bill Hagan on a 2003 Ballabio whose absence in his life haunts him to this day, and a beautiful black 2004 LeMans. Since no photographic evidence exists of that event, we need say no more . . . With no SSR in 2005, we've gathered every year since in the TN/NC/GA mountains. The collective experience is beyond words. So many great folks, so many interesting bikes (not all V11 or even Guzzi), so many Tech Sessions (some rather impromptu!) After moving the meeting place around for several years, we've settled on Walt and Anna's TheLodgeatTellico for so many reasons, not the least of which are Walt's garage and Anna's breakfast! I am reminded to repeat the disclaimer: This is not an event, rally, or official gathering of any kind. It has nothing to do with V11LeMans.com, its owner, administrators, moderators, members, posters, spouses, offspring, or pets. There is no fee, no insurance, no sponsors, no map, no plan, no organization, no support. No , no T-shirt, sticker, patch, pin, or swag. There is no release to sign because there so no one to release any more than the last time you took your bike somewhere or showed up to talk with some fun folk. It's like Burning Man. Without the smells. So, let's say some V11 are likely to be in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, the weekend of September 9-11. Some at Walt's (LodgeatTellico), but often folks stay all around. This year, a little nuance: the theme of the Slimey Crud Run, up in Wisconsin, seems a propos, especially for Saturday: "Show up. Plan your own route."
  3. Taking advantage of the longer evening hours, and the long way home from work, followed some of the beautiful winding area roads along the creeks and over the gentle ridges admiring the blossoming pear trees like great cotton balls or clouds along tended drives with redbuds dotting the edges of the woods with their bursts of purple . . . . . . and rolled over 98,000 miles on the trusty, willing Sport. What a lovely, excellent motorcycle!
  4. "I can name that car only seeing one square meter of the tail end."
  5. Motorcycles, smoking, and high heels . . . the three most dangerous food groups!
  6. Oh, my . . . that's how I got here! The '75 GL1000 just wouldn't hang in the corners without throwing showers of sparks. You're in the right place to get the V11 sorted. Consider coming to the South'n Spine Raid in September - great opportunity to park it up next to others and learn a great deal about it.
  7. Right, that funky spool! http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19252&hl=%2Bfactory+%2Bstand

  9. You wouldn't want to see any more than 14.5 volts if you are running and AGM battery or you will cook it. Cia. Agreed, that is generally true, but is temperature dependent. An AGM chart I use for reference shows the following charge voltages (float voltages differ): 32ºF 50ºF 68ºF 77ºF 86ºF 104ºF (0ºC) (10ºC) (20ºC) (25ºC) (30ºC) (40ºC) 15.30v 15.06v 14.82v 14.70v 14.58v 14.34v I've read elsewhere in the Odyssey literature that the charge range is 14.2 - 14.7 v and not to exceed 15 volts.
  10. If the bag is going to mounted all of the time, why not just pop the chin pad off and store it up?
  11. Ooooh - California "Black Plate"
  12. You know, though, it occurs to me that if that circuit has really never been used, that just using it for some time may restore the ground path.
  13. Seems those individual bulbs ground through their flinky housings and often loosen up. I seem to recall a method of epoxying them so they will maintain a constant ground (been quite a while since I've done that). Not sure how hard that is to get to on a LeMans (on the Sport, it was not bad at all).

  15. Or this: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12326&p=148983 Almost no contact from the factory fuse connectors:
  16. For reference, this fastener?
  17. At the very minimum: *happier* . . . But, isn't that what it's all about?
  18. Nothing wrong with having your way with your new lady! Keep us posted on how it goes (maybe one of those newly-popular "Single Bike Project Threads?" Otherwise, first things are first: add the canisters of your choice if they've not been changed yet, work through a couple complete tune-ups, get guzzidiag and zero your CO Fuel Trim(m). Set up your suspension, and go through the process of bringing the maintenance and charging system up to standard: Tank Off Maintenance Checklist Wheels off Maintenance Checklist Hey, and "docc modded his airbox with a beer bottle" doesn't sound so terribly becoming. It was actually several beer bottles, and the task was performed with great craft and art.
  19. Does that make it "stiffer?" Possibly even heavier?

  21. I share the affinity for beers that look like 20-50 motor oil that needs changing!
  22. "My Mandello Mountain Bike" Brilliant! So, so nice in so many ways!
  23. So, what kind of amperage do you see from the charging circuit on the V11?
  24. Kiwi_Roy is the resident expert on these things, but he is off in, well, Kiwi_Land . . . 14 gauge will be fine. Because it is going engine to frame, I used flat braided ground strap material under heat shrink tubing.
