I didn't mean to single out THE KLR. I meant why would someone buy an adventure bike and ride it virtually the same place you would a Norge?

You mean to tell me you wouldn't buy a KLR with 15 in. of ground clearance, lower it 10 in. ,load it down with 450 lbs. of gear (junk) and ride 2500 mi. on the highway (in the name of adventure)?
  3. The European Riders Rallye wiil be again this year in Burkesville,Ky.It is sponsored by BMW of Nashville. Dates are May 14-16. what's a Moto Guzzi ?
  5. The "Cafe racer" magazine that is on the website, I just subscribed to. The editor rides a Griso. There is a feature shown where they are making a cafe racer out of a new V7 Classic. Looks good.
  6. If it would make things better have someone (in the valvetrain mfg/sales area) make you some longer pushrods or something (spacer)to drop into the bottom of the lifter that the pushrod can sit on. p.s. i think all this worry is in vain..............
  7. Hypoid gear lube= what goes in the rear ends and transmision. 75-90,85-90,85-140, 90-140 and more. WD-40 is good for something, anything long term it is not good.
  8. If there is a God, dont' let D be stricken down with anything............
  9. All three have certain "qualities". The girl on the Guzzi is the hottest!
  10. Ask the man doing the work how much he will remove from the cam lobe. Then ask him if you have any worries. He will tell you that is what the lash adjustment screw is for.
  11. I have found Lubriplate 105 assembly lube to do the best and last the longest.
  12. That fuel tank should be reinstalled with somone's testicles in place of the fuel line pinch!
  13. I suppose you use the kitchen oven (for mechanical purposes)now that you are divorced?
  14. Raz, I hope you will take some good advice. 1. See if there is someone close that regrinds camshafts and price their labor vs the cost of a new cam.You might have to research to get the original specs. 2. Install new lifters or have these reconditioned by a firm that knows how much convex surface theses lifters need. The surface has to be angled so the center of the lifter contacts the center of the cam lobe. 3. The naked eye or a bunch of friends will not be able to tell you how much wear is on these parts.
  15. The bulb in my bike (if it is the combination tail/stop lamp) is the same as an 1157 bulb. I don't know if the Phillips is the same candlepower? For the bulb, go to an automotive (NOT a chain store) parts supply store in your area. They have countermen that can help you. Most chain stores have former fast food workers. Go to a store that sells boat trailers for the correct grease to fill the socket cavity when installing the bulb.
  16. I'm 53. It took me 5 min. to see the caption.........WOW udderly beautiful !
  17. I know... p.s. thanks for the help on the cam lifter discussion!
  18. I mak a motion that "global warming" or any reference, inference to this subject NOT be allowed on this site. I hear enough of this s**t from both sides elsewhere.
  19. I know this after-the-fact. you always want he insert to end up one thread below the surafce of the part you have repaired. You might (if you feel man enough) take a burr and grind off enough to be below the mating surface ?
  20. You need to consider this! All lifters (rockers) unless it is of a roller rocker design has a convex surface. This mates to an angled cam lobe surface. This is designed to "spin"the lifter and keep it from remaining in place. If you do not believe this you should consult a racing camshaft company and ask them.If you want to f**k up your engine, go ahead and do as your advised. Advice is FREE. Parts are not.
  21. You say "Recoil" Is that a brand name? Here in the U.S. the brand is Heli-Coil. There is a company here also "Timesert". Expensive and the best. If at all possible I would use one insert instead of two.
  22. Replace them! This pitting means something BAD was about to happen. Use a good cam assembly paste when you reassemble them.
  23. remember the maxim..."If it's too loud,you're too old".
