  1. Funny how in a field of exotica the V11 stands out....especially the greenies! Cheers
  2. Geez I reckon I'd go nuts if I couldn't get out for a ride for months. I'm bad enough after 2 or 3 weeks.... Yep, I'd definitely need some sort of distraction for those winter months if I lived in those areas.
  3. Mate, wine o clock would be brilliant in your garage! I'd grab a glass, a comfy chair and just enjoy looking at them! Cheers Ps sorry to hear the riding season is over but commiserate with an IPA mate.
  4. I squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a 500ml bottle of lightly sparkling water for my hydration during the week.... Weekends a good Shiraz does the trick!
  5. I wonder if Blondie is awaiting her turn to pose on the Guzzi....?
  6. I missed this when I rode up to Darwin back in 1990, but I did ride a camel up the riverbed! The bloke who lead the ride was a fellow Victorian who'd been in Alice Springs for about 5 or so years and told me that when he got homesick, he'd grab a beer and sit in his tin shed with the sprinkler on the roof to remind him of home..... Yep, it don't rain much up there or didn't 30 odd years ago! Cheers
  7. Yeah, I didn't think much of his list either! The only one worthy was the V4 Ape, I've heard one and they do sound very good. My mates MV triple with aftermarket pipe is way better than that MV four too and that should be on there! BUT.... a V11 with Mistral carbons (no db killers), Stucchi X and open airbox lid makes a beautiful noise and should head the list! I may be a little biased though....
  8. Brilliant.... The back page of MCN was the first page we all read and definitely a cultural institution! I think Fred's creator was a Kiwi of a similar vintage who lobbed into Melbourne and got a job at MCN way back when. Some of his early references to Wahini's ( women ) and the murder house ( dental clinic often found on school grounds whereupon one got free dental treatment WHETHER YOU NEEDED IT OR NOT so the nurses could practice on you....WITHOUT ANY FORM OF PAINKILLER....! Having a fairly high degree of tolerance to pain I was a star pupil and have a mouth full of unrequired fillings, but I digress..) were dead giveaways that only one from across the ditch would pick up on.... Wish they'd reprint the magazine of the cartoons and do more of the same as gotta be a few mags worth! In the meantime I'll read through the ones on the attachment! Thanks Mick.
  9. I haven't ridden a long frame, but we have some pretty good but crappy in parts roads round here, gotta say though I'm constantly surprised at how well the short frame handles them.... I've mentioned my set up elsewhere, but 01 greenie with correct weight linear springs, Guzzimoto fork fix, + 12 mm up thru triples with Hyperpro shock and 160 rear tyre. She steers quickly but is still very stable. I recall reading an article in Classic bike a few years ago about Dr Johns spine frame racer. It mentioned how well it handled bumpy circuits at lean if you were committed and not shy with the throttle and I find this is true now with my bike set up properly. The racer had a wheelbase of 1460mm from memory so not far from our shorties! This wasn't always the case though as prior to sorting I clearly remember one particular corner scaring the bejesus outa me when the forks couldn't handle it and bounced up a couple of inches and deflected sideways about the same....I made it but I've never forgotten it ha ha. HUGE difference in road handling now and love the way she goes about it now! Cheers
  10. I have a set of industrial grade nail clippers for my rather stubborn big toenails.... Personally, I find this to be a safer way of keeping them in check rather than riding in Jandals (aka thongs/ flip flops, depending on where you are in the world! ) Cheers
  11. Not my car,but..... I was out for bit of a ride on the bike earlier today before my holidays and the reasonable weather end and as I was hammering down the road and setting up the next uphill left hander, I notice a certain light blue 1920/30's Bugatti open seater sports car coming round the bend and opening it up on the other side. We passed each other in a blue and green blur of vision and sound but the grin on his face and wave told me he enjoyed the moment as much as I did. This is the second time we've come across each other out on the local backroads! Just wish he could've seen the grin on my face as the state of the road and my progress meant I couldn't wave back! I reckon he'd have been copping a battering in the old car too though as neither of us were too fussed about the posted limit and would've understood! So, to Bugatti man and all gearheads/ kindred spirits out there... Enjoy them while we still can. Cheers
  12. Thanks Doc. I'm a big fan of his writing too. Cheers
  13. Thanks mate. Thats the first thing I checked when I got to the office.... Both rims seem to be good! I did have the same scenario on my GSXR 1100 back in the 80's which bent the front rim! I do wonder how these latest light weight rockets cope with these shithouse roads though. I guess it's good to be a little er hefty and able to cope a bit better eh. Cheers
  14. I replaced the taillight lens on mine... Reason...I was riding into work a couple of Fridays ago when I hit a bloody huge pothole just before peeling off to the servo for gas. Christ it felt more like a crater, but anyways whist I'm fumbling with getting my helmet off ( hands were freezing and fingers numb ) a bloke comes over and tells me he was right behind me when I hit the pothole and saw my taillight explode and fly off everywhere! What the...? Sure enough I look behind me and all I've got is two screws left where the lens should've been! Shit so all I could do was ride on as is and hope there no rozzers about! Once home I ordered another with my mechanic Rob which took a week or so to arrive and I could pick it up and install. So,I was able to ride into the office again yesterday with a taillight again without any dramas other than it was fookin FREEZING! I later found out it was 1 degree on our balcony and minus 1 ish on the Longwarry flats....Arghhhh. Glad I had the thermals on but it was murder on the hands. Oh well at least it was better on the ride home.. a balmy 8 degrees! Be glad to see the arse end of this cold snap and more so the inept state government fixing these goat tracks they call a national highway! Although no one's holding their breath on that! Anyways glad to report the green one is back to her glorious good- looking self again. Cheers Ps forgot to mention that the lens was actually cracked in a couple of places and being 21 years old and with UV exposure the pothole was just the last straw! Anyways it gave ole mate Dave and Rob a good laugh!
