Life happened and haven't ridden the 04 V11 Lemans since last October. Fired it up last night and it ran perfectly with big fan for cooling on it. Was walking back behind it and noticed a lot of debris on the garage floor. Looked closely and it was sunflower seeds blown all over the floor. Swept up after running the bike and thought, what the heck, let's fire up the old 86 Lemans just for grins since I can't remember when I last ran it. Took some coaxing but it finally came to life and sounded great. Lo and behold scattered all behind it was a bunch of dog food. Creative mice must have been storing the seeds and dog food in the mufflers!. Will have to get a metal storage container to store the bird seed and dog food in.4 points

Ok, I know it's a Norton video but when was the last time you saw two V11 Sports in one video? Colin has a great Scura. Bought it new from Moto International. Last time I checked it had 60k miles on the original clutch. For an added bonus there's an 850 LeMans too. And how many of you know what an Egli is?4 points

This. Hooking up a V11S to a chair would be like hooking up a Ky derby horse to the Budweiser beer wagon.3 points

The video doesn’t do it justice. The sound is very nice from the carbon cans. I have had Fast by Feracci carbon, MG Ti and regular exhausts and the Exan is at the top for me(fit and finish also). The video was shot when I installed the exhaust and usually keep the db silencers on as I like my ear drums😬. Here you go… https://youtube.com/shorts/EGO1HIrLuUI?feature=share2 points

I saw in the initial images the throttle plates looked a little too far open to me but I thought it may just be the perspective. My previous recommendation was to establish that the butterflies were completely closed and both sides were baseline synced together as a starting point. You can then at least start the engine and keep it running on the throttle without it running away until you can set the idle roughly. When you get the idle roughly correct on the idle screw the butterflies will be slightly away from fully closed on the TB bores, naturally. Then you can do a proper balance and tune. I now see the OP is asking about the white linkage knob and whether its the idle adjustment and know we are in a bit of trouble. As docc says, follow the decent tune-up thread. Ciao2 points

I've considered getting a rig a few times; other than piloting a dead one getting towed off a race track once, I've never ridden a sidecar. There's a lot of small engineering details that go into making a rig safe and responsive at speed, things can go sideways in a heart beat, it can be a steep learning curve. I've seen some beautiful looking rigs based on V11 Spine frames, but the consensus from others, that are experienced sidecar builders and riders, is that the Tonti frame based bikes are much better designed to handle the stresses generated, and a more easily adapted platform for sidecar duty. Buying a well built rig is ALWAYS cheaper and easier than building one. fwiw ymmv Good luck2 points

I know a person who had an almost brand new Subaru.. mice ate up the wiring harness, that was an expensive fix.. get a cat or some traps. these work great! http://fivegallonideas.com/bucket-mouse-trap/2 points

That would be the YTX15L-BS. Just strapped one in my V11. Chaparral and Avid Cycles sell them for about $80.2 points

I keep a couple of live traps in the garage, baited with chocolate. I like the bucket trap! What a great idea. We have a female cat who brings home various parts of rats, gophers and birds just about every day. I don’t like to see the birds, but have no pity for the rodents. When we moved in here—and old lathe and plaster house—rats were running around inside the walls every night. After a couple of weeks the cats put an end to that. Living on an orchard property, I always keep a female cat around (sometimes two) . They are evolutionarily perfected hunters, and sweet pets, too.1 point

Did a compression test today (warm engine, wot) on my '03 Le Mans 15.5k miles. Looks like I'm a lucky guy: 158 and 160 psi. [emoji16] Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk1 point

Yes.... agreed, but I have the V11 already and it has sufficient grunt to haul a car around. Although I have a lathe, mill, MIG and TIg.... as much as it pains me to buy stuff, I would cough up the funds to buy the mounting hardware, just to avoid any drama and save time. There are a couple of knowledgeable (nutters)locals to help set it up. Assuming I actually get around to doing anything about it.... most of the bikes use would be on a small island where the posed speed limit is 50kmh. Not a glamorous ending for a V11, but at least I wouldn’t have to worry about picking it up... just focus on avoiding hedges.1 point

A female cat . They are mousers . The only things Toms do is mark territory & hump female cats . BTW , they don't pull out . Sticky traps are the most effective , but they catch EVERYTHING1 point

They're a special breed, lol You have to be a welder, engineer, usually possess off the charts mechanical skills. They love building crazy sh*t that nobody else would ever try; one of the funkiest rigs I've seen was based on a big old Triumph twin, the builder reversed the cylinder & head assembly, so the exhaust flowed out the back of the engine, just to prove to himself and the world that he could do it and make it work, and he did1 point

By the way..... the idle was higher after installing the pump. Cable has slack and throttle bodies seem to be returning. Doesn’t make sense unless the old pump was barely pushing enough fuel to lift the pressure relief valve. Not sure about the front end on that Rosso Mandello. I just want a sidehack and don’t even want to mess with the stock front end if possible.1 point

I wouldn't know anything Guzzi specific one wouldn't look at on any 20 year old bike. My "list" starts with my perception, judgement if you will, of the owner. If the owner is suspect, so be the bike. After that I'd guess the first thing I try to do is match the mileage with visible wear points. Brake discs, gas tank, seat, and foot rest rub areas. The place on the top tree where the keyfob hits in the wind. One of my peeves is bugs and bug spots that were clearly not seen to in a timely fashion. The owner that let's the surface go, I figure let's below the surface go as well. If anything Guzzi specific comes to mind I guess I'd say electrics. Be sure all works as it should with no funny stuff going on. A few years ago I was so ready to jump on a pristine 2001 and ready to drive a great distance to get it. At the last minute the seller revealed a mysterious wiring job done by the po. I had to pass on it. Everything said, it depends on your knowledge and comfort level with repairs. And THAT said, this forum and learned members have done a great deal to sort out or help others sort their bikes in the past. Will you see it in person or at a distance? Got any photos or details?1 point

Looks great. Are you able to post a sound clip? I’m thinking of changing to something similar.1 point

I'd wind out the l/h TB idle screw until it has clearance ( the r/h should be clear already if one is indeed fitted) then disconnect the linkage and make sure both throttle plates are bottoming out inside the throttle bodies. You should adjust the linkage so when both throttle plates are bottomed in the bodies the small post on the end of the linkage aligns perfectly with the bush on the l/h linkage, then refit it. Wind the idle stop screw on the l/h side until it just touches the linkage and give it half a turn. This will guarantee the throttles are closing and then do a balance and idle adjustment. When you start it up it wont idle but you can adjust the idle stop screw until it does and you're in the ball park. Check the fast idle cam first. Ciao1 point

Probably a 3 part paint finish, base coat, translucent colour coat and top coat. If you strip them to bare metal, bead blast them and paint with dedicated engine enamel within 2 or 3 days you wont need to etch prime or prime them in any way. Ciao1 point

My 1st Corso ate one entire leather work glove. I wondered why she wasn’t eating and being very aggressive. Took her in to the vet and they cut her open and returned to me in a plastic baggy my missing glove. i was wtf? How? Huh? Really? Geeze these dogs can do some wild shit... I’ve had to erect mini barricades around my speakers at home because I would absolutely freak if she started chewing on my cables. I’m not into $10,000 a inch cables... but I do use quality stuff. Stuff I’d rather not have to try and replace at today’s prices... Ohh btw, she discovered what bass feels like hahahaha... was playing some Steely Dan ( Lunch with Gina) and turned it up just a bit. She was in awe! That was hilarious.1 point

I love that you guys keep pushing my musical limits! That k-Bop that @jetboy posted is so much fun! Here's what I came up with on the "best of" Tab Benoit inquiry (thanks, @LowRyter!)1 point

The V11 combustion chamber is somewhat more advanced than radial aircraft engines - but not all that much. Therefore, pre-ignition is an ever-present threat as we are in the pre-knock sensor world here. Lucky those who live near a friendly airport, eh?1 point

I ran regular in the Centauro on the advice of Dave Richardson. Never an issue in 42000 miles. Of course, I run premium in the 2V engines.1 point

If I posted this before I apologize. I tried to search for it. Last year my buddy Mike did a series of interviews at his cul de sac during the pandemic. It was extremely popular and this was one of my contributions.1 point

wot the hell is an atomiser on a motorcycle? I know what it is on a bottle of Windex1 point

Other way round by my reckoning. I'll take a ten year old rollerised Griso over a 23 year old, extremely boring, Yamaha any day of the week on a reliability challenge. The Yam is carbureting like shit at the moment. It needs new needles and atomisers, god knows where I'll find them!1 point
