Ha ha Happily married mate, but she doesn't share my love of motorcycles nor will she ride pillion. So I get away with a tankbag and a wee backpack. Cheers Guzzler Ps don't mind panniers on a touring bike ( but not a sport bike ) and anyone who even contemplates a trailer.... Well... buy a car !3 points

I too consider panniers essential on my bikes, and quite liked the HB juniors on my Lemans. The line in the sand for me is any top box. Not gonna happen.3 points

Happy we all are different. A bike with flotation fenders on the side, and the top box should have been abandoned. We’re talking moving companies here. Cheers Tom.3 points

Hello everyone, I'm a new member to this forum. Thanks for allowing me to join. I'm familiar with and a fan of Moto Guzzi motorcycles. I own a 1968 V700 that I'm restoring and owned a 2015 Griso that I sold a few years back (wish I hadn't sold it). I'm thinking that I'd like to get another Moto Guzzi for riding and, maybe, some longer trips (200 miles or so). There's a 2001 V11 Sport for sale in my area with 16,600 that claims to be very well cared for. Asking price is $5,900. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks!2 points

Thanks very much for the analysis, guys -- I appreciate it. I'll update you on what I find when/if I decide to go take a look at it. Thanks again!2 points

Yes, all of that, exactly. My V35 Imola, identical to the Monza exept for the motor and primary drive ratio, has even less power than the Monza. Allegedly 33 Cavalli, of which probably several less than 30 are really there. But boy is it fun to ride. I love it.2 points

As a user of photo and designer's application, I use colors a lot. Each color is easily represented by HTML or HEX color codes. I could easily upload a Tenni photo in my app. and get the color shown in the photo. But this is not the most accurate way. Unfortunately, most paint makers do not provide the exact color code to the public. Of course not! The color is always referenced to their own product catalogue. Maybe the V100S Green is the same as the Tenni? I am going to send them an email to verify if I can get a color code rather than a Lechler product reference.2 points

Bedding in new FAC cartridges & IKON shock upgrades out beyond Westdale Rd to Beverley, Western Australia Monza riding isn’t about alacrity - it’s all about holding maximal momentum cornering with telepathic inputs - & just savouring its amazingly durable Lino Tonti engineering design & Paolo Martin’s impeccably sweet styling The rider position is surprisingly comfortable too Go figure - I love riding it2 points

Sorry, all spoken for. I only got a dozen, didn't want to get stuck with extras. Almost every week I get a request for a pair. Not looking to make money on these, just helping out fellow owners. I might get another dozen if I get a few more requests. I want another pair myself.2 points

I don't know if Module Masters rebuilds that part, but I have had them rebuild a couple different electronic modules from my Jaguar over the years and they have had good results. You might reach out to them.2 points

Ah, something I'm better at than someone else! After about 30 years of heading off to "somewhere" for a job as a freelance sound engineer, I can pack a suitcase for two weeks to cater for all foreseeable weather conditions, and catering for work clothes for set-up and tear-down and something "respectable" for the show, in about 15 minutes. As long as no-one distracts me in the process. One time my girlfriend asked me a question about something trivial (she thought it was important at the time...) in a critical phase of the process, and I went off to Berlin for 8 days without having packed any socks. The problem with having lots of luggage space is that one starts thinking "oh, I could take that too". Inevitably, the available luggage space eventually becomes "enough -n", where "n" is probaly not really critical, but you really, really want to take that item with you too.2 points

I used to think that, and then I put one on the GTR 1000 (where it is admittedly not such a break in style). I would rather not have to do without that practicality. Besides, my Akubra fits in there.... Got one. Use it on the V35 Imola regularly (because it has no panniers), but I don't actually really like it.2 points

No, he hasn't. I've been to Noojee. The father of a mate of mine, he was a bit of a recluse, lived in Tanjil Bren. Look here, Noojee on the lower left, Tanjil Bren upper right. https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/5704950553#map=12/-37.8683/146.0893 Zoom out for the big picture. Beautiful country. Practically undisturbed bushland. Incidentely, the second Video with the V50 III that Joe posted is not Australia. Probably Britain. The trees are wrong, you don't see stone walls in Australia, and the number plates on the cars are too long for Australia.1 point

Yes, if you need to move this to the proper place, please do, just having issues finding someone to work on any Weber Marelli system.1 point

Hi to all, Oddyseys, Hawkers and top of the range Yuasa's are made in the same US factory. I got 10 years of use with a US made yuasa in my Stelvio, reselling the bike with its original battery still installed. Now, on the V11, a generic lawnmower battery (70 euros) is on its 4th year without trickle charging it. Battery life is a lottery and price has no relation to lifespan ,in my own experience anyway...1 point

The liquid is definitely battery acid, and they haven’t been connected to a battery tender over winter. I did some previous on line research and found this wasn’t recommended with Odyssey batteries unless it was a specific type of AGM compatible tender. They have been recharged once during winter using an Optimate 4 (which is AGM compatible) this was then disconnected when the battery was recharged (after around 1 hr) and not left on permanent standby It’s a big concern that this has occurred to 2 relatively new Odesseys whereas another bike fitted with a >12 year old Spark 500 is fine. I won’t be getting another Odessey after this experience, as my trust in the product has gone, so I guess the default choice will have to be Yuasa1 point

Just got back from DMV for my first ride with my new registration and title. All legal now. Had to slap a plate on it to get it there for them to check VIN since it came from Canada. New tires, gas, oil and filter. More work to do but it is now safe to ride now that the 2012 tires are history. Handles very nicely considering it weighs close to a Ford Excursion. Surprised the hell out of me how it dances around town. Too damn quiet though, need to look for something better for an exhaust note...can't hear the damn engine.1 point

And what do you mean by "rebuild"`? Replace electrical components, or restore the "programming"?1 point

Some of you who decry luggage are either bachelors or wear the same underwear for a week. I am neither of those, and am happily supervised. Bill P.S. The other reality for me is that I am a lousy planner and packer.1 point

Tankbag, and a watertight bag rear seat. Enough gear for a 2 weeks ride. Yes IPA time Cheers Tom.1 point

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who considers panniers essential. I've already copped some flak for expressing my intention to put Hepco Becker panniers and top case on the V11 Le Mans. I know it is prettier without, but I want the luggage capacity.1 point

I suspect the wider tire was a misguided search for more stability (not misguided because stability is bad, but misguided because a wider rear tire is not a great way to add stability). Assuming both bikes have the same 5.5" wide rear wheel, either size will fit on that wheel. Earlier bikes have a 4.5" wide rear wheel and both sizes mentioned are too wide to fit on a 4.5" wide rear wheel. All else being equal, a 5.5" wide rear wheel and a 170 tire is going to have a wider footprint as the 180 tire tends to be pinch more from trying to fit a wider tire on the same size wheel. Gut says a 180 will give you a wider footprint, but that isn't typically how it pans out. A narrower tire on the same size wheel usually results in a flatter tire profile and that means the actual part of the tire in contact with the pavement is larger. Many threads on here about it, here is a recent one1 point

Lucky Phil bad mouthed me for the red gaiters when I built it. I told him that great artists aren't understood until they're gone.. Pix, yeah, I have a few. You see one, you've seen em all, though. It's definitely a FrankenGuzzi. The engine is 90% Aero engine with internal mods to the oil system, and a mish mash of V65 and Lario parts. Transmission is from a Baby Breva. Looked back in my maintenance logs, and first start was 1-31-15. (!) Here's a couple of pictures of the engine installation. Yeah, the bags are ugly, but a bike without bags isn't worth much to me. I also have a rack for rallies. It has been a successful project.. a Lario that I don't have to worry if this is the trip that it blows up on..at night.. in the rain. Suspension is as good as I can make it and remain "stock." Progressive gas shocks on the rear, FAC dampers with Wurth springs in front and a Tarozzi fork brace.1 point

Yeah, me too. Back in the day I crashed countless times running enduros. Most of the time I could throw the bike away. I have visions of a top box hitting me in the ass and taking me to the scene of the crash.0 points
