  3. @HRC_V4 . . . If your buddy's name is "Bill", bring him along. TDM are edgy-fringe and he can keep company with our treasured SpineRaider friend: IndianaYamaBill, along with NYHondaScott , but also other "Scotts" like @sctt2525 and PA_baddass-Jackal_Scott and more "Bills" like HotDog&Griso-Ballabio-Norge-Bill (you know who you are. I'm not namin' any names, but his initials are: @Bill Hagan) Some things never change: Get There. Bring Tools.

  4. @p6x I don't know but the other guy who has reputation for producing some great maps is Beetle over on the WG forum. I think he works with @pete roper so Pete might know if he has made a map for the V11. I know he's famous for Griso maps but that's all I know. Besides Pete is the probably one of the better guys to have some idea about who might help you in a search for a custom map. Pity Will doesn't do them for the V11 I thought he might as he does have maps for the Sporti, which is the V11 older brother in a lot of ways. Caithness???? Are you going up there, any further and you'll get your feet wet, that's "Flow Country" On tour of Scotland or what? I'm in Glasgow, a place no tourist sets foot in (probably with good reason) When are you coming to Jockland? Oh I really like my Malts unfortunately I have an allergy to Barley which can result in very bad next day if I indulge (although from time to time it doesn't stop me)

  5. I'm really enjoying the Quota, much easier on my knee than some of my other bikes. My buddy and I did a 1,000 mile trip this Spring, went up to PA, WV and Maryland, we called it the odd ball tour, he was on his Yamaha TDM 850. The joke was my Guzzi advertised its "dual valve" with the decal on the tail, and he had the genesis engine. We are planning another fall trip.

  7. Expected Goose = P-47 That MGS-01 is a BEAUTIFUL bike! If I were a rich man...it would be on the track when not residing in my man cave.

  8. Excellent choice of machine. Went on a ride out around Derbyshire today with some friends, I was on my Griso 8V, seen here parked next to a friends fabulous MK1 Le Mans, whilst we were stopped for tea & bacon butties

  9. @Weegie Will Creedon answered me, unfortunately he has no solution for my Le Mans... Anyway, I shall see you in Caithness; I have some Lagavulin if you are into SM.

  10. $18k? If it walk's like a duck and quacks like a duck it's probably..................................... Beautiful as they are you've 2 options with them as I see it You keep it in an air condtioned man cave and watch it slowly decay. OR You take it to the track and, paraphrasing Dr Roper, you do a few laps then throw most of it away

  12. Well done Matz. Inquiring minds want to know... which model was your first V11... how long did you have it... what did you ride in between... what made you miss the V11... and just how big is the new permanent smile on your face?

  13. Only found a Moto Guzzi Le Mans 3 on this site. Try the link below; this is a UK based site that lists V11 from all Europe. There are 42 V11 Le Mans for sale. I know there are US based companies that offer a turn key deal for vehicle imports. They take care of all the import formalities and transportation. I maybe wrong, however, reading the norms anti-pollution, cities such as Paris will prohibit motorcycles from 2004 to run between 8 am and 8 pm during all week, e.g. Monday till Friday starting July 2022. Not only the city, but a large zone around it too. Other large cities in Europe are adopting the same measures. I anticipate that many European based owners will be happy to be able to sell their motorcycles to US residents. https://www.theparking-motorcycle.co.uk/used-motorcycles/moto-guzzi-v11.html

  14. He wouldn't be the first odd-Don at a South'n SpineRaid. Pretty jazzed to get eyes on your RedWonders. And lay ears to that sweet Ambassador . . .

  16. I'll try to bring him next year even though his name is Don, he is in to odd bikes too, he had a CB-1 and an NSR250SP, but now TDM and a couple of VFRs. Going back and forth between the Quota and TDM was strange, very different takes on early adventure bikes.

  19. You are correct. I'm used to reading ads where the machine has been sitting for years. I've read around a dozen Guzzi V11 ads in the last month. It is sweet, but still beyond my budget. I'd love to own that machine, but the numbers have to work for both sides.

  20. I sent pix of the new bike to The Kid, and he said, unless they come up with an updated LM1 I'm not interested. I get it, I'm an antiquer, too, but I can't see a modern manufacturer even giving it a thought. If they built a modern Falcone, though..

  21. I'm just patiently waiting fot a new LeMans or at least a Griso replacement. I mean the V85s are cool and all but when you've been riding V11 Spineys for years a V85 can still seem a little meh. And the 1400 is cruiser and more of a freight train. This motor reborn into another kind of Tonti style or spine frame would be just pretty. Or both. Guzzi should get this done with and make a reborn retro s1000 twin shock deal and then a sporty modern single swingarm deal.

  23. Please don't misunderstand, alternatives are fine with me. I know it's coming. I don't deny progress or inevitability. Doesn't mean I have to like it, endorse it, welcome it, want it, or wish it. "bring on the E bikes?" ok, so the E bikes are here and I'll watch them fail, fail, and fail in sales... until governments prop them up, younger people buy them, and people like me are gone. A friend once said to me, while watching a very bad movie "just because they make a movie, doesn't mean you have to watch it" ...drunk, but wise. There is a bigger conversation to be had about "the environment" and personalities, for one answer "why shite to that"...and that would be a but welcome conversation. People (enthusiasts) my age have the unfortunate advantage of watching the demise of ICE's. Those who welcome/encourage it I would say, don't understand the motorcycle experience the way I do. That's fine too, ... you do you , I do me,.. liberte'. I'm just an end user and don't give a crap about tech or green. All visceral, no pretense. I like to think that's why I'm here.

  24. They'd never be able to make competitive 'Modern' power with an OHV set up. The reason the TB/s are central and the exhausts exit on the outer edges of the heads you can tell it's a DOHC set-up as the cams have to run in the same plane as the crank. if you look at the Caponord 1200 motor you can see a lot of similarities. I can't do photo's here, I always forget how, but if you look at a Caponord engine in the parts list you can see where the idler gear shaft I and then the two camshafts under the head cover. It's standard Piaggio/Aprilia design and mimics a lot of the engineering in the Rotax motors used in the RSV twins. I'm looking forward to seeing what else is in the motive unit. People we're always wingeing that the Gen 2 Hi-Cam *Only* made 100hp. I always found it amazing that it did! It's a very compromised design but it will make 100 rear wheel ponies and not a lot more, no matter what people claim. To get serious HP and meet E5 a DOHC and water cooled powerplant was the only way forward. Unfortunately the forced adoption of OBD II protocols spells the death knell of remapping by aftermarket sources and home tuning. From here on in we're at the mercy of the manufacturers. Bring on the E bikes and whatever comes after them and let's stand at the stern rail and wave our handkerchiefs in farewell to dirty old fossil fuels! Our grandchildren will thank us.......
