  1. Still some snow on the lawn and in the woods, but the sun was out and temp was 53, and wife said do it. What else does a moto guy need to know, I did it. Road for about 2.5 hours being cautious in the curves cus the roads were still heavily dusted from winter sanding. Ahhhhh it felt good to get the first ride in.

  2. Seems I never updated anyone yet, sorry about that. I installed the circuit breaker, went it easy and works perfect, bike starts and runs as intended. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QTSZ32B/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

  3. I did mine a couple of months ago. Actually changing the hose is in fact not that hard. A bit of a fiddle due to the bends near the ends, but not hard. You just can't see what you're doing all that well. The tedious part is dismantling the bike far enough to get to the hose. @cowtownchemist you have your tank off already, so the worst of it is done. Getting to that stage on a Le Mans also means having the fairing off. If I remember rightly, it is also a help to take the airbox out. So, as mentioned, actually changing the hose isn't really the problem, but rather the buggerising around to get to the point where you can access the hose.

  4. The horn and tachometer get their power through Relay#2. On the early Sport this relay, in turn, gets the power from the weak contact of Relay#1. If you have not done so already, replace the entire relay set with a "Best" High Current relay from Pickers Components, CIT, (or OMRON if you can find them): Otherwise, check that your battery and charging voltages are adequate...

  13. Thanks PhiI. But I prefer the zip tie, and I enjoy seeing how much travel I use on certain sections of road especially after that one big pot hole I couldn't avoid. Its a gauge, just like my oil and temp gauge. They add some JOY to my total riding experience. SKIP

  14. @igor This morning, I read your post, and I thought it was really an odd problem. Nevertheless, as I was running errands, I decided to use my horn. Instantly, my horn cut off, I lost my tachometer, my head beam, and I later discovered that the low oil pressure lamp was no longer lighting with the engine not running. I thought that I must be that lucky, someone talks about it, and it immediately affects me. Fortunately, I checked my fuse box, and discovered that where there should have been a 15 Amps fuse, there was only a 5 Amps one, and it was blown! I don't think you have the same problem as I did, but just for being thorough, check your fuse.... It is the one with the head lamps icon. Bonne chance!

  15. Umm, really. Don't know about others but once I've set up the preload and compression damping to my riding and road conditions I don't need a travel indicator again. Besides a slight smear of grease with your finger indicates just as well when the dust seal wipes it down under compression. Phil

  16. I will be very disappointed if the factory does not make a limited edition Dr. John tribute bike or at least a livery as they do for Tenni. We may, as a group, want to relay that to the factory - if there is a formal way of doing so. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

  20. Sitting here in my recliner.........Maybe a weak ground connection??!! You could try grounding the horns separately to see if the condition changes to where it doesnt effect the tach function. idk. I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer other ideas/fixes. Art

  22. Maybe you got some from springs from two different batches. Inventory management system is quite poor here. It consists of a cardboard box and plastic bag. I agree that something else is wrong. That spring died a violent death, it didn't wear out.

  23. Yes, I did that too. I got some genuine oil resistant hose, and found that it was too stiff to install. So the hose is used for coupling a sharp s/steel elbow at the front and a bent up aluminum tube further back. It works well and the uglyness is well hidden.

  24. As spine frames go, the Dr. John version of the Daytona and SPOrT 1100 certainly brought an elegance to the otherwise clumsy origins. Whomever redesigned the "frame side plates" into the fabulously luscious stilettos of the Centauro, 1100 Sport-i and our V11 Sport/Le Mans variants really iced the cake, IMO . . .

  26. I bought the breaker from Amazon, planned to have installed it this past weekend, but it wasn't delivered until Sunday evening. I did manage to free the buss, cut the wires and prep it. In doing so, I discovered a previously installed butt-connector on the 15amp fuse that easily fell off. I'll solder that back when I finish the CB install. Much thanks to @gstallons, for calling me to advise my repair and check in on my progress. I've got a friend in Kentucky!

  27. I am sad to hear of Dr Johns passing. Life is often too short. Death does not wait for you to be ready. That Dr John did not invent the spine frame doesn't mean what Dr John did was any less impressive. He also did not invent the internal combustion engine. Everything people are doing nowadays is on the backs of those who came before. Arguably Tony Foale didn't "invent" the spine frame either, as bikes have used spine frames before he "invented" it. A better way of phrasing it might be that Tony Foale helped develop the spine frame that we know. The Guzzi sideways V twin is a natural fit for a spine frame.

  31. You may as well buy two of these hoses , one to install and one to keep around for a spare . When you install this be sure to index the hose clamps so when you do it AGAIN and AGAIN you will have less trouble with R & R . BTW , if you go with the homemade design , keep in mind this will have to be compatible with petroleum . You may spend more time with your innovation than buying an OEM part. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger , we all have a breather tube that did/does look like this .

  34. That sounds like a twin plate clutch to me. My single plater is quiet engaged and a slight high pitched rattle (more of a swishing sound) when disengaged. My old twin plater sounded like yours does. Check the flywheel access hole and see if it's been change to a twin plater by the PO. BTW if you snap the clutch lever in and out of engagement at idle once it'll reduce the rattle by about 75% each time. The RAM single plater is the best individual mod you can do to a Guzzi big twin. 37. I dont believe the hose is an emission control hose, it is for crankcase pressure venting/breathing,which all motors must have. take another look , it starts on top of the motor case right in front of the gearbox/ bellhousing. It looks like a cracked black garden hose( at least in my case its cracked!)
