  1. A couple years ago Nicole and I found this Gas station Ice Cream shop just south of the Tellico Lodge. It's home of the smallest ice cream size the "Sissy Cup".

  3. I've looked at these pictures several times, with awe at how realistic they are. Then I noticed that a timing belt has been installed over toothed sprockets, which would last, oh, about 30 seconds. I hope he notices this and gets a set of gears from Joe Caruso before he finishes the rebuild.

  4. G'day Well with a break in the weather on Thursday I thought I'd brave the cold and take the bike into the office as I really wanted to try the C6 and R12 fork set up.I was pretty impressed with C4 truth be told... The first 20 kays at -1 were brutal on the hands and it took 5 minutes to get my wallet out of jacket at the servo to pay for my gas....Thank god it warmed up further on. Anyways on the way home..Wow! Theres this one BIG dip early in the piece just out of sight after a tightish left hander (this is after a series of great corners to get you in the mood) usually taken at about 100 k's because of it.I've tried several lines through it and hit it every bloody time a coconut so you can't avoid it! It's a huge hit and definitely wouldn't take this corner at any more than 100k in fact often slowed knowing it was coming up! Well the other week at C4 it was a BIG improvement BUT holy snapping ducks urine Batman...This time around it was hardly noticeable.. just another wee bump in the road! I thought maybe I finally got lucky and found a way to avoid it but no I definitely hit it! Very impressed and can't wait to test it more, as couldn't ride the rest of the road at my usual pace due to traffic wet roads and the looming spectre of a polaroid in the post for a previous misdemeanor! Cheers

  5. Yep, I agree. Right now I am just brainstorming what to do...can't put it back the way it is now, there is not full articulation. My hunch is possibly the manufacture and dimensions of these zerks has changed a bit since the 2018 link. I'll work it out somehow.

  6. Looks like that route comes back through Ducktown. Makes me think: Rod's Rockin' Rolls . . . https://rods-rockin-rolls.business.site/

  8. The ebay linked, reduced size, 45º Zerks fit my original Sport U-joints and the referenced Della Concordia replacements . . . The 45º Zerk, provided with the replacement U-joint (shown center) is too large. Thread pitch is the same . . .

  10. I'll let y'all know the next time I change the r. drive oil on my '72 Eldo....it has a removable sump, a good place for 20cc's of liquid moly to coagulate. 8/29/23 Update: I removed the sump from the Eldo to change the oil. I didn't see clumping but it appears that the heavier liquid moly (than 80w-90 gear oil) settles out to the lowest point when static.

  11. I strongly encourage you to take the Pistaccio tour, because you may be interested to understand how they manage to get Pistaccio trees to grow there. It was not a given. The wine they make (the place is also a winery) is not as remarkable. I still purchased some, and brought back enough Pistaccios to last me for one month after I gave away so much. There are others point of interest in Alamogordo. The White Sands Park is amazing.... try to stay there at night....

  12. You sure can. I placed grease in each gear drive, as well as a few drops of lube into the cable.

  13. I could not be happier with the roads right out out of my driveway, but remember from our years down that way the many stupendous roads at the top of Georgia. Grand. Simply grand. Bill

  15. The sqiggley roads of North Georgia are certainly striking distance from Tellico Plains. And no riding into the low sun going and coming like crossing the Cherohala . . .

  16. If'n we cain't go the Cherohala for lunch at the Tapoco, may-haps we should relive SSRs of the past, bomb into the Athens Super8, get passed on the right shoulder by a cop-car with full lights&siren, roustabout in the Super8 parking lot until some cowboy chick gets arrested, and escape (relatively) unscathed . . . Of course, I'm just making all this up . . .

  18. Watch for signs of over fill at that volume. Some amount of any gearoil will not drain from the internals, but clings. Repeated volumetric refills are a formula for overfill and seal stress. just my 0.00005 lire

  20. I got one done yesterday, had to cut one joint side with a cutting wheel. Then the other half of it cut easily because nothing was in the way. The first cut needs to be precise otherwise you can nick the joint body. It certainly was no fun. 106°today, too hot to work in the shop. The other one needs to get done in the AM tomorrow before it heats up. Wish I had a Norwegian shop.

  21. I took out a uni joint on mine the other day. The project wasn't a success as a whole for a couple of reasons, but getting the joint out was. I looked at a couple of videos on you tube for hints. There are about 750,927 videos there in various languages about changing uni joints. Yes, the ones on the V11 are a bit tight. One tip I found from a bloke doing the joints on a Ural shaft was to get them as far out as you can, and then catch the end of the pin on the rim of the cap from the inside and hit it a couple of times more to get a bit more room. As it turned out, I didn't have to do that. The pins are just long enough to get just enough room to get the cross out. What gets in the way are the rollers. They start moving around in the cap, and get jammed between the end of the pin and the rim of the cap. I had to get in there with a pointed object and push them out of the way. One got in to the hole in the end of the pin (the "grease gallery") to about half its length, and the sticking out end was quite in the way. Anyway, I won. You just have to stick at it, look at what is happening and think about what your are doing, and don't give up.

  22. 12,720 miles, Runs great, had all fluids and bike gone through last year, new rear disc/caliper brake. I modified to have handle bars, ie street fighter style, uses Jackel Handlebar clamp as seen in photo, have all parts to revert back. Bar End weights. Airbox removed (still have) and has mistral pipes. Also have magni fairing (perfect condition) and all bits (two windshields for magni), including old clip on handle bars, signal extenders, mirrors, lower cowl. Includes guzzi luggage and tank bag. Was going to sell it last year but just couldn't let go at the time. Have decided my sport bike days are over (the abductors just can't handle it) and just bought a British Roadster so my wife and I can enjoy the open air together. Asking $6000 b/o Deal can be made with or without Magni. I am second owner, purchased in 2009 with just over 8K miles (correction). (bike is in NH) Title in hand

  23. Replacement 20,000 km seemed a little ambitious but reasonable. They feel fine to me with no grit or slop. My bike seems to have been loved by its previous owners. I'm confident running them as is with fresh grease, but I think I'm going to pick up a pair or two and stick them on the shelf anyhow.

  25. My 'Sport driveshaft is different from the V11 shaft, and getting the old joint out was something I need Pete Roper's sailor's vocabulary to describe. I had to push the caps out of one yoke as far as possible, reach in with a brand-new diameter cutoff wheel, cut a leg off and then wedge the first cap out by prying in the cut. I won't do that again short of an imminent failure, and bought a good used shaft to put in place when that happens. Docc, how did your change go?
