You can still get those Magni fairings? I do really like the look of those, better than the stock Lemans fairing even. I'll send them an email!4 points

I don't know for sure that they are still available, but since they are still on the site, it is worth asking. I just looked on kleinanzeigen.de. Perhaps this is what @Tomchri meant. Is it any good to you? It's in Königsbronn in southern Germany. https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/moto-guzzi-v11-le-mans-baujahr-2001-verkleidung-rechts-/3013469775-306-9058 Königsbronn is here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2792008#map=7/50.075/9.212 EDIT: I just looked at the advert on Kleinanzeigen again, and noticed that the part is "nur abholung", i.e. "pick-up only", so the seller probably wont send it to the Netherlands. BUT.... as it happens, I am expecting to be going from Leipzig to Altusried and back 3 or 4 times over the next 5 or 6 weeks. That means I will be going past there on the Autobahn A7, and picking it up for you would mean about a 10 km detour. So if you need help, let me know. Posting it on to you is not a problem, and if he wants cash in the hand on pick-up, that can also be done. EDIT again: thinking about it, it might confuse the seller, or make him supicious, if you contact him and tell a story about "someone will pick it up for me". If you want the part, get in touch with me and I will try and buy it. If I can get it, we can take it from there. If you change your mind, it is no big deal. That would mean I have a spare part that I don't really need right now, but one can never have too many spares, even if they are the wrong colour, so no problem.3 points

I got the impression that Jaide was of the female persuasion Mick? I mean a Le Mans is a bit of a girls bike unlike a mans bike V11 Sport As for hitting bush junk around our area at present it's lousy with Roos, road kill everywhere. Driving from Eltham to home yesterday we must have seen more than 300 Roos in a 5klm drive in surrounding paddocks. Scary. The dog was going nuts a few days ago and when I looked up the drive there was a Roo in our front yard. I live in suburbia for goodness sake. Phil3 points

I am pretty sure that some bars are the larger diameter. For example, the stock handlebars for a Ballabio are the larger size.. I fact, you can buy the Ballabio bar risers and handlebars and install them on a V11 Sport that came with clipons from the factory. On the wifes V11 Sport that is what we did. The stock top triple clamp even had the boss in the casting for where you would drill the hole for the handlebar clamps. I just drilled the holes for the clamps, and installed. There are lots of options for the larger size bars out there. Most of them (if not all of them) are larger in diameter where they attach to the triple clamp but neck down where the grips and brake / clutch lever attach. I do agree that the higher the handlebars the less direct the steering feels. But another large factor in that is width of the handlebars. Usually clip-ons are narrower, and offer less leverage. Side note, as I recall the Ballabio uses rubber inserts where the handlebar clamps mount to the triple clamps. You can do the same when fitting handlebar clamps to a bike that did not originally come that way, or you can solid mount the handlebar clamps to the top triple clamp. That will increase vibration in the handlebars but improve steering feel.2 points

The height of the handlebars is somewhat subjective. I have a V11 with handlebars and one with clipons. And a friend has the greenie with Magni fairing with clipons further down. In slow sharp corners and tight 3/4 roundabouts the higher handlebars are giving a feeling of control. When leaning heavily on the clipons it limits a bit the light and accurate counter steering. But as said: subjective And depends on the type of corners. On a twisty road my V11 with original clipons is good. For faster riding and longer turns the greenie with Magni is a joy to ride.2 points

Not a perfect solution, but perhaps something for the interim . . . 02 Moto Guzzi V11 V 11 LeMans Le Mans right side upper cowl fairing cover https://www.ebay.com/itm/273414634761?_skw=Moto+Guzzi+v11+lemans+fairing&itmmeta=01JT4Q3FK0AY677BXEAJV5V6R0&hash=item3fa8c83d09:g:wPYAAOSwMwRbd2eq&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1d3mkGl5RUy%2B0kRLG33imxOcPV2zIEchNOgiNZT%2F1OBDZoQeknxEcvaoB6zuZQdQCWJaQbH8GPtgIb5BTpHdBgSrOp%2B4Qz1CW84c1ktNk37mW04%2BCRzSEdN%2BI7IgxjXZxu7PhrvZ0%2FOvTugecQDHdsCrQ2cj50nAqGNT3L3j2yREDTTj%2F5UU8x1QUjdIDltDFjlmbtzGhs%2FGSCW%2FjqP4Kmd9YYI5dnSglCe%2B1zKgRj1iDyIctn%2Fr88Hp7CfAKEjHMqsKvaYD5O8j5yDwmJLrQD%2BBVssvwTYfCj7OTGqbNSeP8kvEVQk%2BWVwzsYbln5QelQ%3D|tkp%3ABFBM1PmNl9Fl2 points

I was wondering how the RedFrame Trash talk might settle out on a LeMans forum . . .1 point

A lot of things that you would assume are centered or symmetrical on these bikes are actually not. If you ever mix up the RH and LH fairing brackets that attach at the head covers you will the difference clearly.1 point

It's simple Mick, tighter technical rules. Currently the racing in WSBK is at least as good as Motogp if not better and the lap times of a WSBK is around 2-3 seconds a lap slower. So you could ditch the aero and the suspension ride height BS and not only be faster than a WSBK bike but the racing would be better without the front tyre temp rubbish and the affect aero has on overtaking. Pretty easy really. Phil1 point

There is 1 now, page 5 on Kleinanziegen. One overtighted hole, easily fixed. 100Euro, probably for less. Cheers Tom.1 point

The left side and the bottom bit below the headlight are undamaged from the accident, but the fairing was already a little off centered when I bought the bike. I only noticed that recently, but it was like that all along.1 point

First time I saw a Hare, though American at the Grand Canyon, from the car a hundred feet in front I thought it was a small deer.1 point

Bummer for the bike. Glad you stayed upright and safe. It might need to a Sport for little while, but to do so, you will need a different way to mount the headlight. How's the fairing's left side? Maybe you can find a fairing from a bike that went down on the left and use the right side of it. I saw a herd (fluffle? ... colony? ...) of wild hares last week while riding my dirt bike in Anza Borrego Desert State Park. At first I thought is was a pack of small dogs. They can get big, and they are wicked fast and agile. But given the damage in the photo, I'd wager the LeMans was going a lot faster.1 point

He's not talking about rabbits, he's talking about hares, possibily what you would call a jackrabbit. They can apparently get up to 70cm long and a weight of 7 kg. I wouldn't like to hit one.1 point

I have not been to Cars & Coffee in San Clemente. I'll send PM re some times for a ride. A San Diego (backcountry) or Sierra Spine Raid would be cool.1 point

After installing MPH risers on my 01 Rosso Mandello, I was able to buy a hydraulic clutch line for a 1997 MG Centauro, which is longer than my original stock line, It works great.1 point

Did some track racing last Friday. Even with our heavy bike it was really fun And also this Scura rides in The Netherlands. Track was in Venray. Also a Griso attended. Really cool. Would love to have a spine meeting here too! Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk1 point

It really makes perfect sense for me. I was torn between getting a characterful retro bike, but I also want something with nice brakes and suspension that can really handle. I guess most young riders are put off by the weight and age of these bikes.1 point

For the foreigners, that road is quite famous in Australia. I've never been down it, but looking at the map, I can see why one might go along there on a bike. https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=putty+road%2C+australia&zoom=5&minlon=-29.663085937500004&minlat=40.81380923056961&maxlon=29.487304687500004&maxlat=60.1524422143808#map=16/-33.50645/150.817441 point

Another easy explanation, the krokodilla (crocodile) mention, I have to be more home taking care of Daffy the rottweiler when there is nice weather. Why not a side car next thought. Me think close to26000 km with the dog in the sidecar And a very happy and proud dog. K1100RS, with a german made sidecar, made by doctor professor ingeniør. Good experience, but no dog no sidecar. Had my first ride of year on 2004 Ballabio after completing my 20 year (approx 25,000 km ) maintenance visit. With all the work done, new tires, all callipers & master cylinders rebuilt, new brake pads, all new engine sensors, complete “Decent Tune Up”, including plugs, air filter, etc., Roper Plate installed, drive shaft removed and greased, etc. it is just like it came out of the showroom in 2004. Good for another 20 yrs/ 25,000 km. Not sure I am! What a pleasure to ride.1 point

I uhh, have not been having a good time lately. I went out for a ride with a friend this evening, and a wild hare jumped into my bike out from nowhere! Thankfully I didn't crash, but the fairing is completely messed up now. Does anyone know if it's even possible to get a proper matching replacement in the Netherlands, or is my Lemans now doomed to become a Sport?0 points

That might have been a Jackalope...those were fairly common in Arizona when I lived there a while ago.0 points
