  2. 43rd Annual Show, and always dear in my heart as it was the first time I saw a Greenie in person and I haven't been so insufferable since. Much to the consternation of the president of the club I park my bike on the field but don't register it so it can get voted on. I just do it because I can keep an eye on it. Pit stop on the way home. Also because the green looks fabulous in the sun.

  3. Well, the first [KSR] is in the books and what a GREAT gathering it was. I believe the head count was around 12, a good showing I thought. Three of us Michiganders trailered four bikes down to Kentucky (Norge, V 11, 14 Custom, and a Harley ). We had a nice ride Friday afternoon that included a stop at the dam on the lower end of Lk. Cumberland and then back to the State Park Lodge restaurant for dinner with a wonderful view of Dale Hollow Reservoir. Saturday it rained but we made the best of it by having a Tech Session held in the garage at the Park rental house that Joe and others stayed at. I brought my two lap tops with Guzzi Diag loaded, along with the diagnostic cables, break out harness, and multi-meter. After a little back and forth with the hook-ups we got connected and were able to read the ECU's on mine, Joe's and Kales V 11's. Very interesting to be able to read some of the sensors and the varying CO values. Tech Session was a success. Big thanks to Bill for getting the tab on Saturdays dinner, also for handing out commemorative 2023 Guzzi tyre pressure gauges. Thanks Doc for the air screw O-rings and the specialty (cool) front torque arm bolt. Thanks to Gene and his very top end Snap-On Diagnostic code reader(he cleared trany codes on my truck) run's great, and Kale for a complete set of wheel bearings. Great Big Thanks to Joe and everyone else who came, contributed and participated in this wonderful event. I was truly gifted. SKIP

  6. Found a couple more pics from the SpineRaid. Although I had the "idea" everyone contributed to the cause and turned the weekend into a epic time.

  7. Ha ha They do look good in the sun don't they....! I get quite a few WOW that looks great... is it a standard paint job? When I tell them it is they look incredulous! Cheers

  8. If there is no neutral light showing, whether correctly or incorrectly, the clutch would have to be pulled in to get it to try to start as if the system thinks you are in gear (and if there is no neutral light lit it thinks you are in gear) the clutch lever must be pulled in to attempt to start (especially with the side stand down). And if the clutch switch doesn't work, as docc mentioned the connectors can be funny, it may not know you pulled the clutch in and still not try to start. Of course, if you replaced the battery it is certainly possible you missed re-installing one or more wires or got something wrong. Pulling in the clutch and / or putting up the side stand takes being in neutral out of the equation, as long as your clutch switch and side stand switch works. I would try both at the same time, sit on the bike with the side stand up and the clutch pulled in and try to start it.

  9. Since I got the bike out of the shop, it's run a bit better but was getting an off throttle backfire, particular when I downshifted. Since the bike was dyno tuned, I'd thought they might've been just too aggressive with timing and/or fuel. Anyway I was going to take it back. Then Sunday, I took to the DGR ride and the problem got quite bit worse, lots of backfiring and hesitation. Then it occurred to me that it was likely the TPS. I opened the connector and gave it a shot of contact cleaner. Did a ride yesterday and it ran clean and strong

  10. I might have missed something here, but the the breather house, a clean bill of health ? I use the Shin Etsu when putting a new one on, and easy to fit on. Rubbish rubber, time will tell. Cheers Tom.

  12. I thought a lot about retaining the original look to the gauges. But my V11 already has a number of customizations and I know I will never sell it as a show piece. So I'm just going to go ahead and make it mine. Since the bike is black with the red frame and porkchops, I'm actually thinking of using this color scheme with the Guzzi eagle printed in there

  15. What I did today: picked up these from the place I ordered them from. I placed the order based on a tip from a V11 specific german language forum. They look like what I've seen in pictures here and there, and fit the coupling from the fuel lines that I bought as a Guzzi part. Observant readers will be able to glean from the photo where I got them, what the part number there is, and how much I paid for them. Given that they are apparently a little harder to find than hen's teeth, I'm happy. By the way, they got my name wrong. Somehow Germans never understand me when I say "Michael". Mostly they hear "Marco". "Marcel" is a new one.... After that, I took her out and washed the oil off the sides of the sump at a car wash. A subsequent ride and dusting with talcum powder was supposed to show me where the oil was getting out. Unfortunately there was no positive result. I am now tending to suspect the source of the leak within the clutch housing. Bugger....

  16. It's this Sunday. Taking the Sport. Not a lot of mention of it although the local ride has the biggest signup ever with 51.

  17. After five years of chasing oil leaks, I found many contributors, but finally had to address the eight (8) leak sources in the clutch area. So nice to have these all buttoned up!

  18. I found a post in the german forum on the subject. Here is (slightly edited) what DeepL made of it: The translation is a bit rough, but one can get the gist of it I think. The "old cam" is the one that was used for many years in the big block Guzzis. I don't know if the V11 still used it, but the basic principles of the text still apply. The text is a quote in a post from someone else than me, i.e. third hand or so. Nevertheless, I know who was being quoted. As far as I know, he studied motor engineering, so he probably knows what he is talking about.

  19. well not so much. I took it out to meet a fellow Guzzi rider and rode 60 miles one way, started to rain. Got a few backfires and a couple of skips/surges. After lunch, started to rain again. Started the bike and went for 50 ft, bike died altogether. Cranked but no fire. Played musical relays- looked dusty in there (?). Bike ran like a train all the way home. Got home and got the contact cleaner.

  22. Thanks Docc! I've got a McMaster-Carr baggie of #112 (60 durometer) Viton orings from back in 2020 when I was messing with the original sensor. The original leaked from the top of the sensor molded housing and after I sealed it, it began to leak from where the molded housing meets the cable casing. Yeah, the old thing would seep, the new set-up leaks. I plan on getting to this on the next rainy day. Thanks, Art

  23. Yessir, that #112 works. I am not sure what the actual metric size is. Use Nitrile (Buna-N), or Viton instead of plumbing parts. Be careful not to use so much sealant that it changes the spacing of the sensor from the timing wheel. These sensor have been reported to leak through the wiring. My ugly JB Weld repair has remained effective for many years/miles:

  25. Are you disengaging the clutch (holding the lever in) to start? There is a clutch safety lock-out switch. Those "bullet connectors" are suspect when there is absolutely zero response to the start attempt. Are you attempting the start with the sidestand up or down? Yes, no Neutral light could mean it is in gear or between gears and not actually in neutral. What battery are you using? An OEM Odyssey PC545 is deeply discharged at 12.2 volts and will require conditioning. A low amp "trickle charger" will not charge it. Must be 6 amps or more to actually charge a PC545.

  26. Been a few times mentioned here about forgetting a groud cable to the battery. Check of battery, short wire connected to the solenoid and hit the + wire. Don't think you need to pull the clutch to hear the pump. Do you hear the pump ? Cheers Tom.

  33. I've been away for the weekend for a V11 meet-up. Both @Revilo's posts and the @audiomick's Ford fuel line connectors should be their own topics, IMHO, rather than in this menagerie thread. I am quite busy catching up, but will try and focus those topics ASAP . . . [edit]:

  39. Wasn't able to do anything but look at her on the way out to do the shopping this morning... We just got home and the heavens opened! So now just about to open a bottle of Vino sit by the fire and have a look at my birthday present from yesterday, the book Moto Guzzi 100 Years, in between looking out the floor to ceiling windows at the rain lashing the balcony! Bloody nice and cosy inside but still a part of me wants to get togged up and go for a ride.... I can just hear my wife.... You idiot. Ha ha... the fire wine and book win for today! Cheers
